Anything but a card...and winner!!

Hey all my crafty peeps!  Welcome to Michelle's Crafty Creations!

First, the winner of my Blog candy is (chosen by random.org):

Jen said...
Awesome gift bag, Michelle! Perfect for a teenageer. Congrats on reaching 100 and here's to 100s more!!!

I was so surprised when she won cause she was the first commenter!  Just goes to show that the first commenter can win the goodies!!  Congratulations Jen!!  Thank you to all my followers!  I truly appreciate you following me and leaving comments.  It is encouraging!

Now onto the challenge!  Over at Cooking with Cricut our Design Team was tasked to come up with the weekly challenge themes!  How fun is that?!  Well this week, our lovely designers, Holly, Court, and Nita came up with Challenge #70 "Anything But a Card" The twist, must add polka dots and the color yellow!!! (I love twists!!)

Today I decided to do a paper purse.  I LOVE making purses.  Honestly, there was another design I have made before I just couldn't find it.  Having a new computer without it on this one, was kind of a bummer! :(  BUT, I did find another one.  I think it came out really cute!! (I am determined to find the other pattern as well at a later date and do that one too)  I also love the colors of this paper stack!!

Cute huh??!!

To make this I used:

Cart ~ Accent Essentials for the flower and "clasp" (sized with my gypsy of course)
Paper ~ DCWV The Green Stack ( My FAVE)
Misc ~ button and ribbon from my stash, Big Bite crop - a dile, and flower eyelets from The Paper Studio

I would LOVE to give credit for the maker of this purse, but I simply do not remember the website.  I tried to reGoogle it but I could not find it.  This was a little more challenging to do than other purses, but I like the way it turned out!

Now it's your turn!!  Link up your project to the Cooking With Cricut challenge post.  There are some guidelines.

1.  Must follow the challenge topic.

Sweet 16...and some Blog Candy

Hey all my crafty friends!!  Welcome to Michelle's Crafty Creations!

I hope you all had a fabulous week!  I have been a little busy trying to get some Valentine's decorations/projects done.  So FUN!!

For today's project I made a purse gift bag.  My daughter's friend is turning 16 next week and her birthday party is tonight!  I was You Tube hopping for some neat craft ideas and I stumbled upon hers.  I used her ideas but adjusted for my measurements.  You can find the video tutorial HERE.

This is the front of the purse.  It already has the gift in it!
EEK!

The back side

The over lap to close the purse

I had SO much fun making this!!  It really was very easy.  You do not need a cricut, but I wanted to put a little flourish on it.

To make this I used:

Cart ~ Gypsy Wanderings for flourish; it was sized on my Gypsy
Paper ~ Colorbok for the plain black; Designer paper from Hobby Lobby
Misc. ~ SU bold bright pink passion to ink on the zebra pattern; ribbon from my stash; velcro sticky back to "clasp" the purse; crop-a-dile for hole punches, and a brown paper lunch bag.

I think I will be making more of these!!

NOW for the BLOG CANDY!!  After attaining 100 followers, I wanted to show my appreciation.   All you have to do is leave a comment.  You MUST be a follower in order to receive this.  After all it is for you lovely followers!  Thank you so much for reaching this first blogging milestone!!

I LOVE these!  It is 350 pieces of an assortment of embellishments!!  From brads to eyelets, to neat paper clips which will give your product that "finished" look!  So please leave a comment for your enter to win!  You only need to leave one comment!

Hugs and Happy Crafting!

Warm Holiday WIshes

Hey all my crafty friends!!  Welcome to Michelle's Crafty Creations.

Over at Cooking with Cricut the design team was challenged to come up with the weekly themes for our challenges.  This week's challenge, Winter Warmth, is brought to you by Heather and Linda.  We were to challenged to make something "warm" ie scarves, mittens, fireplace, cocoa, etc.

For this challenge I made something simple.....hot cocoa!!  Seriously, who doesn't like hot cocoa after coming in from making a snowman or having a snowball fight??!!  Such fond childhood memories that I have, and now I want to pass on to my kids!  Which we do all the time....when it snows! lol

I used foam dots to make the coffee cup "pop" from the saucer

I would have LOVED to have gotten better lighting for this, BUT trying to take it without natural light stinks... ;)

Yup, I made a shape card!  I LOOOOVE them!!  Of course, I used my gypsy.

To make this I used:

Cart ~ Winter Frolic (I hid the snowflake cut and only used the shadow and 2 layers)
Paper ~ DCWV winter stack
Misc ~ Divine Swirls for cream and cocoa layer; Glossy Accent for cocoa; Sentiment from stamp set I got at craft store; Colorbox Chestnut chalk ink around tea pot and for sentiment.

Now it's your turn!!  create a project with anything with winter warmies.  Link up your project to the Cooking With Cricut challenge post.  There are some guidelines.

1.  Must follow the challenge topic.
2.  Must be a new project for this challenge
3.  No back dated posts please
4.  Must have a link back to this post on your blog
5.  Must link your project post through Inlinkz and not just your blog
6.  Must use your Cricut in some capacity
7.  Gotta HAVE FUN!!!

I Feel the Love Project....

Hey all my crafty friends!  I hope you are having a great Monday.

I just wanted to step aside from a craft post and tell you about this amazing young lady and her amazing project "I Feel the Love".   Her name is Madison.  She is a young lady with a heart for others around her.  She just went on a missions trip to LA to help feed the homeless.  How sweet is that??!!  What a servant's heart.  If that doesn't prove what a great heart she has, let me tell you about her I Feel The Love project.  She Creates cards and other people make cards and send to her so she can give them to a family who is struggling with a crisis.

Her November/December project was for a young 14 year old girl who passed away from cancer.  To honor her memory, the cards that were submitted were given to her family and passed on to children in the hospital who were not able to be home.  You can read more about that HERE. *sniff* seriously, every time I think of this I get so teary-eyed.  To be a parent of a child who is suffering so much with their sickness just breaks my heart.

If I could bring ONE smile to someone's face or lift their spirit up in this way, then I felt this was the least I could do.  We are always making cards for swaps, challenges, or just for fun sometimes.   WHy not take our creations and donate them for a wonderful cause.  I am so impressed with Madison for feeling compelled to show her love for others.  She truly inspires me.  Her current "I Feel the Love" project can be found HERE.   She also has contact information on where to send your submissions.  I

Let's be a blessing to someone who is going through a hard time!

Something Old, Something New.....

Hey all you crafty friends out there!!!  Welcome to Michelle's Crafty Creations!

Welcome to day 2 of Cooking With Cricut's  and Paper Crafting World's FIRST blog hop of 2012!!!  Our Theme is "Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue".  Sounds fun doesn't it??!!

If you have arrived from the ever so talented Evelyn then you are in the right place!  If you just happened upon my blog, then you will want to start at Melin's so you don't miss out on their wonderful projects!

Our designers were challenged to use something old (from their craft stash),  something new (perhaps a Christmas gift or new technique) something borrowed (a cricut cut or PCW cut file or digi stamp) and it has to have the color blue!

Today I made a simple lay out.  I had SO many ideas run through my head, But I wanted to do something a little feminine.  My daughter LOVED to play dress up.  She would always dress up as a little ballerina of wear pretty dresses.  I made this lay out with that in mind.  I plan to do another page, for journaling....I will post that another time.  I really only do two-page lay outs if it is a really big event that has LOTS of pictures to post.  I love to write on the page of my scrapbooks once in a while so I left some room here and there for that option.

LOVE how this came out!!

Sewing on paper is def a challenge!!

Check out those flowers!!

There are a LOT of new elements I used.

First for the challenge:
New ~ sewing, lace, and rick rack flowers I MADE!!!
Old ~ Paper!!  I have had that stuff FOEVER! LOL
Borrowed ~ hanger for the dress
Blue ~ Obviously everything but the lace!!

To make this Lay out I used:
Carts ~ Gypsy Wanderings for the dress and phrases "play and dream"; A Child's Year for the scalloped picture frame; Everyday Paper Dolls for the hanger
Paper ~ DCWV Garden Party Mat Stack
Misc ~ Blue rick rack ribbon to make the flowers; lace; Ranger Distress Ink Tea Dye for a "vintage" look.

I am SUPER excited about how my flowers came out and the sewing (def trial and error)!  I hope you have been inspired to try something new on your projects as well!!

Now what is a blog hop without candy??!!  RIGHT...that's what I say!!  I am offering to one lucky follower the following:
YUP...a Martha Stewart score board!  I LOVE mine!!  All you have to do is leave me a comment on this blog and become a follower.  Make a comment for each. If you are already a follower just let me know on a separate comment!  I will announce the winner Tuesday! (Please leave me an email to get in touch with you)  Good Luck!

Hello Crafty Friends!  I hope you all are having a wonderful New Year!

Today I wanted to make a thank you card for a sweet little girl who gave my husband a present.  She is such thoughtful young girl.  What little girl doesn't like pink and kitties?!  :)

I LOOOOVE how this card came out!!

Cart ~ Create a Critter
Paper ~ Mariposa
Stamps ~ PKS for eyes
Ink ~ Ranger Distress Tea Dye
Emboss ~ Argyle for pillow
Tools ~ SU paper piercer
Misc ~ Stickles, gelly roll pens, ribbon from stash

I used my gypsy to weld the cat and pillow accessory for base; hide contour for the cats face and some of the tail for the base.
